Say Goodbye to Spilt Ends

Say goodbye to split ends and hello to beautiful, vibrant hair that shines with confidence.

Split ends - every hair's worst nightmare. Whether you have long, flowing locks or a chic pixie cut, split ends can wreak havoc on your style and overall hair health. But fear not! We understand the struggle, and we're here to arm you with the knowledge and tips to tackle split ends head-on. Frazzled ends will be no more and silky smooth strands are here to stay!

Understanding Split Ends:

Before diving into solutions, let's first understand what split ends are. They occur when the protective outer layer of the hair cuticle wears away due to various factors such as heat styling, harsh chemicals, rough handling, or environmental damage. Once the cuticle is compromised, the inner layers of the hair shaft become exposed and begin to fray, resulting in those dreaded split ends.

What to Do When You Have Split Ends:

Trim Regularly:

One of the most effective ways to combat split ends is by getting regular trims. Schedule appointments with your stylist every 6-8 weeks to snip away those damaged ends and promote healthier hair growth. We know, trims seem scary, especially when you’re wanting to grow your hair out. But trust us, regular trims keep split ends from traveling up the hair shaft, meaning your hair has a better chance to retain its length. Trims will keep your locks fresh, vibrant, and growing with ease.

Moisturize and Nourish:

Hydration is key to keeping split ends at bay. Monarch also offers multiple types of hair conditioning services to protect the integrity of your hair, regardless of hair condition. These can be added on to any color service as well. You should also invest in quality moisturizing hair products such as shampoos, conditioners, and leave-in treatments that are specifically formulated to nourish and hydrate dry, damaged hair.

Protect from Heat:

Excessive heat styling can contribute to split ends by weakening the hair shaft. Minimize heat damage by using heat protectant sprays or serums before blow-drying, straightening, or curling your hair. We personally recommend the Kevin Murphy Heated.Defense. This product is applied to wet, clean hair & will provide thermal protection until washed out. When styling, opt for lower heat settings and limit the use of hot tools to prevent further damage and breakage.

Gentle Hair Care:

Handle your hair with care to avoid unnecessary breakage. Use a wide-tooth comb or a gentle brush to detangle wet hair, starting from the ends and working your way up to the roots. Avoid vigorous towel-drying or rough handling that can cause additional damage to fragile strands.

Pro tip: When you dry your hair after a wash, try using a microfiber towel or one of your old t-shirts. They cause less friction on your hair and can help reduce split ends.

Split ends may seem like a never-ending battle, but with the right care and attention, you can keep them under control and maintain healthy, luscious locks. At Monarch Salon, we're passionate about helping you achieve your hair goals, and our expert stylists are here to guide you every step of the way. Say goodbye to split ends and hello to beautiful, vibrant hair that shines with confidence.
